'It's the little things I remember; a flash of colour, an atmosphere from foreign climes, a single line or shape noticed amongst my habitat.  It could be a sailboat on the water or the diversity of the sea in all her majestic beauty.  It could be the dusty acrid haze of a distant land, the hustle bustle of an overcrowded market in the heat or an emotional expression from man or beast noted from afar.  It's generally a feeling from times gone by that lie quietly within my subconscious. Childhood memories, past influences and a trigger from the now, result in a spontaneous and impulsive need to translate the subject matter back to life'
